tres

This post may perhaps be a little late, but I haven't been religously checking the F09rtw show coverage as much as I should have for the past few weeks. Anyways, i just stumbled upon threeasfour's latest collection and, boy, am I impressed. Anyone who actually reads this blog knows I'm a total sucker for anything futuristic and sleek, so this collection obviously hit many of the right notes.  I've never really followed this brand but after seeing what I saw today, I definitely will keep them on my radar. All of the looks featured in the collection seem to be inspired my crystallized formations, with angular handkerchief hems (of which I've never really been a fan of) and very futuristic tailoring. Sheer cutouts, crystal embellishments, and minimal color story of black and ivory are just  a few of the details that gave this collection it's edge. To me, this collection almost seems to go perfectly with that crystal-y, sculptured bootie from Balenciaga Fall 2008.

FILE UNDER: Desperate Dominatrix Housewives

If the mood of the Paris shows this season were any indication of the suffering global economy, Alexander McQueen seems to have been living in lala land. And apparently lala land is a dramatically beautiful hybrid of dominatrix (leather and bondage straps, sex doll-like exaggerated lips), 1950's housewife (hourglass silhouette, houndstooth prints) , and a Tim Burton-esque heroine (black feathers and umbrella hats).

GET THE LOOK

I was on my daily browse of Urban Outfitters and i found this awesome 'designer inspired' hosiery. Just add a few extra holes and you have some great Rodarte FW08 knockoffs. Now all you need are those KILLER HEELS. Steve Madden are you listening?...

WE COME IN PEACE

Paris fashion week this year saw a decidedly more toned-down Gareth Pugh.

Although I always love his more avant-garde stuff, this season im still impressed with this selection from FW 09. Like the Mulleavy sisters at Rodarte, Pugh moved his vision away from space robots down to a more earthy, apocalyptic look. Like many designers this season, we're seeing lots of leather pants, but Pugh distances himself from the pack by taking a baggier, fuller approach. And they look killer with those stunning platforms. Im totally obsessed with that, what is it, mink tail(?) coat. beautiful. And if i couldn't stress this enough, black is beautiful.

expect Beyonce to be seen in this as she's seemed to have been on a sort of Pugh binge lately...gag

HAUS OF GAGA

i don't know why but right now, I'm in love with Lady Gaga's style. It's something about the mixture of margiela-esque sharp shoulders, 80's glam, and synthetic materials that is quite smashing and totally irresistible.
